Behind the design
Demand to see the new E-type at Geneva was so strong that Jaguar sent an extra roadster from Britain overnight. Test driver Norman Dewis drove 77 RW from Coventry to Geneva in a dramatic 17-hour journey, arriving in time for journalists to try it. The launch became part of Jaguar folklore.
