Behind the design

About the car

The 1933 Silver Arrow offered a vision of luxury-car design’s future. Phil Wright’s streamlined body used a fastback tail and a sharply sloping grille. Only five were built for exhibitions; although each sold for $10,000, the Studebaker National Museum says Pierce-Arrow still lost money on them.
