Behind the design

About the car

Disco Volante means flying saucer, an apt name for this aerodynamic experiment. Touring gave the 1952 C52 a tubular chassis and a lightweight aluminium body. The designers sought a shape that would behave well in the wind, creating one of the period’s most unusual sports cars.
