Behind the design
The Alfetta’s restrained body concealed an unusual arrangement: the clutch and gearbox were placed at the rear, while the engine stayed at the front. This transaxle layout helped balance the weight between the axles. Its name recalled Alfa Romeo’s championship-winning Formula One cars.
